Trauma-Informed Parenting (TIP) Group-Week 1

This is a five week group therapy that is focusing on attachment processes, secure child-parent attachment, parenting methods, effective methods for managing meltdowns, self-care for parents, importance of nurturing and more! This group will be meeting on Tuesday’s from 6-8pm on April 4th, April 11th, April 18th, April 25th, and May 2nd. It will be held at Grapevine Clinical (666 Walnut Street, Ste 1610, Des Moines). Car Seat Training-December

The Safe Babies Court Team, alongside Officer Holly Pickett, will be hosting quarterly car seat trainings throughout 2023. Office Pickett covers everything you need to know from choosing the appropriate car seat for a child, installing the car seat correctly, how to safely strap a child into a car seat and more.

Trainings will all be held virtually, and the Zoom link for all trainings is: https://uiowa.zoom.us/j/99622318339. 

There is no need to register for this training unless you are needing a certificate afterwards as proof of attendance. If you are in need of a certificate, please email Stephanie directly to sign up. EDHI Valentine’s Day Party

The Iowa EDHI program is hosting a Family Valentine’s Day event with the Iowa Hands and Voices for kiddo’s who are deaf or hard of hearing! At this event, families will make crafts and Valentine’s Day cards for their loved ones, have a snack, and meet other families that have kiddo’s who are DHH. This event will be held on Sunday, February 12th, from 1-3pm at the Urbandale Public Library (3520 86th Street, Urbandale). Healthy Baby Shower-Polk County

Healthy Baby Shower being hosted on February 23rd at 6:30pm on Zoom! You will learn about pregnancy nutrition, baby development, community resources, and connect with other expecting mothers in your area! Participants will receive a “Healthy Baby Backpack” filled with gifts for your baby after attending.  Register by February 20th by phone, text, or email. Kid Connect Parent Group at Marion Public Library

Family Learning Connection provides Linn County families group education, resources, and connections that help to prepare school-ready children! It also provides parenting information and advice and other supports that are needed for parents and caregivers throughout their free 6-8 week family learning groups. Family learning groups are free to families with kiddos 0-5 in Linn County and use a variety of activities to teach topics! They include a free family meal or snack, childcare and program materials. Transportation assistance and interpretation services are available if requested.
