Held at Jamie Herd Amphitheater on Monday, November 27^th @ 5:30pm. Annual celebration where you and the family can enjoy wintry refreshments, caroling, and the tree lighting at 5:45pm.

Operation Santa

Free event open to all children in foster care, kinship care, their biological and foster families.

Free event from 9am-3pm on Saturday, December 9th.

Sensory Day at Festival of Trees and Lights

November 22^nd from 11am-5pm at Community Choice Convention Center

Tickets are $5 https://fundraise.givesmart.com/form/nHt8dw?vid=11q8qf

Modifications made specifically for Sensory Day include:

Festival Express Train will operate, however, the train bell will be disabled to reduce noise.
No entertainment will be performed on the large stage in the Ballroom to help reduce noise.
Lights will be dimmed and flashing lights (on trees) will be minimized as much as possible.
Attendance will be greatly reduced.
A calming room will be available if needed by attendees.
The Sock Skating Rink will be limited to very small groups, or individually if needed, to meet the unique needs of attendees.
Santa will be available for children and families in a secluded area – out of sight for attendees.
The music Therapist will provide a special area for musical activities based on attendees’ interests.

Sensory Sensitive Playdate

November 17th from 5 to 6:30 p.m.

Des Moines Children’s Museum

Join the Des Moines Children’s Museum for special hours for children on the autism spectrum or with other sensory sensitivities and their families to connect and explore! They will have sensory bins, communication boards, and a low-light calming space.

* This month’s will take place on the third Friday of the month instead of the fourth, due to the Thanksgiving holiday *
